Shiny happy people laughing! English Club Timóteo on hold because of Coronavirus. |
Do
you speak English? Quite obviously you need to in order to join the English
Club Timóteo, a new group around town, bringing together people who want to practice
Shakespeare’s language. It’s just been created - the third meeting happened
this Saturday, February 29th, 2020, a date that won’t be repeated in
the next 4 years, therefore historic!
It came to life from a simple idea, as
the best things do, in a conversation between two friends. With the support of
Hotel Dom Henrique Timóteo, the project quickly took off and is now full speed
ahead, with fun, freedom and fairy tales. Friends from different ages (fourteen
to sixty-six so far) join together to speak English, in a relaxing, motivating
atmosphere. With movies, music and culture on the menu, you can bet this club
has come to shake the town and region up, eager to make a buzz for an excellent
cause.
You’d like to say “wow!”, but I know
you’re pretty demanding and not easily impressed, so let me tell you more: our participants
come from four different places in Vale do Aço: Timóteo (fast becoming the
region’s cultural hub), Coronel Fabriciano, Ipatinga and Ipaba. Just like birds
of a feather flock together, smart people recognize and praise each other. And
that’s not just words.
This is a group that intends to go as carefree
as possible, although strongly structured on clear scopes: meet, exchange,
enrich, contribute, have fun, make friends. Not one good thing, but a bunch of,
free of charges, pure knowledge at your disposal, if you’ve got the passport, which is a level
of fluency in English that allows you to be at ease in a free-speech setting.
More similar projects are already being
nursed, such as the “Francophilies” or French-friendly, French-speaking people,
soon to come under the spotlight, as soon as we’ve gotten enough experience from
this pioneering group. Because we are open-minded, we always want more, and
frankly speaking there is no reason to not put up new initiatives when we have
the necessary conditions in place, that is, people, facilities and resolve.
So, if you feel like meeting nice
people and contributing to a cultural group, don’t hesitate to show up. I’m
sure you’ll fall in love. Don’t think twice, come along!
